Eid Mubarak | يوم الأرض الفلسطيني – Land Day | 03.30.2025

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu (peace be upon you and the mercy of God and His blessings),
CU Muslim Action Committee (CU MAC) extends heartfelt Eid greetings to the Muslim community of Champaign-Urbana and our Ummah around the world. May your worship be accepted and your hearts renewed with hope, strength, and faith.
This year, Eid Al-Fitr coincides with Palestinian Land Day, March 30th. A day that commemorates decades of resistance against land theft, occupation, and erasure. As Muslims mark the end of Ramadan with prayer and joy, we do so with full awareness of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the broken ceasefire, and the deep injustices that Palestinians face both under occupation and abroad.
With the illegal arrest of Mahmoud Khalil earlier this month and Israel’s merciless bombardment of “safe zones”, hospitals, and refugee camps – we take Mahmoud’s following words as a call on us to rise above despair and fear. To act with dignity, principle, and unwavering resolve.
“Justice escapes the contours of this nation’s immigration facilities… I have always believed that my duty is not only to liberate myself from the oppressor, but also to liberate my oppressors from their hatred and fear.”
This Eid, CU MAC invites our community to join the #EidInSolidarity campaign.
We ask you to wear a keffiyeh at Eid prayers and gatherings as a symbol of remembrance and resistance. Use the hashtag #EidInSolidarity to raise awareness and show support for Palestine. Let our joy be connected to our justice.
To our community: Let this Eid be a moment of spiritual strength and moral clarity. We celebrate while continuing to resist. We pray while continuing to protect. We love while continuing to liberate.
Eid Mubarak. Free Mahmoud Khalil. Free Palestine.
