DUA ALDASOUQI

Dua is a Palestinian organizer and activist local to Champaign Urbana. As a Palestinian she has always advocated for Palestinian rights, and her years of experience brought CU MAC to life.

Professionally, she is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and also classically trained in the Islamic sciences from Qalam Seminary. She combines these two passions in her work at A Muslim Dietitian.

Dua is a spoken word artist and poet and loves performing anytime she gets the chance.

JESSICA YASIN

Jessica Yasin made Champaign-Urbana her new home after a cross-country move from California. She finds purpose in serving the Muslim community and brings with her a background in media and years of advocacy for Palestine.

Though Iraqi by heritage, Jessica is a proud convert to Islam, and her heart remains deeply connected to the convert experience. Having grown up distant from the Muslim community, she now finds joy in reconnecting with her brothers and sisters—both through CU MAC and as a teacher at Hidaya Academy.

For Jessica, serving the Muslim community isn’t just a role—it’s a purpose.

SANA SABOOWALA

Sana is wrapping up her PhD in Integrative Biology from UIUC. Through her research on historical trauma in South Asia she spent time studying genocide and is committed to fighting against it. She helped build CU MAC and our network of CU MAC friends throughout the area.

As a Pakistani American from Texas, she is grateful to have found a strong community of like-minded Muslims committed to social justice in Urbana-Champaign.

MARAH ARMOUTI

Marah is a Jordanian-American and Chicagoland transplant living in Boston, MA. She is passionate about Palestinian liberation. She joins CU MAC as a board member and looks forward to contributing to the community by advocating for Palestine.

Marah has a PhD in Physiology and works as a Medical Writer in a medical communications company.

Marah is navigating figuring out the work-life-rest-advocacy balance as a new mom to ten-month old Khaled.
